Design of a route map for art installation by Maaria Wirkkala, Northern Alps Art Festival, Omachi, Japan 2020 -2021
Inspired by legends and the nature and the history of Lake Nakatsuna, the artist has developed a series of works based on the theme of water and salt in the form of two cottages, a boat on the lake, a lakeside bench, three stone Buddhas and the sound of the bell, which intersect the past and the future as you strawl along the lakeside.
“To walk and to take some steps at the salt road. To step into the two houses. To share – to be part of the old legend. Presence of the past. Presence of the future. What if my roots were here? To feel the global through this local. What has happened. What will happen.“
